It's funny how an idea can be in the air or atmosphere in a certain way, and we see it sometimes when several different people invent something very similar to the same period. For example, both practically Tesla and Marconi invented radio, individually and on opposite sides of the planet. (The history books generally credit Marconi although the Supreme Court ruling on patents, effectively ruled that Tesla invented earlier.)
Once I developed an additive synthesis program to run on the Apple II computer. I've never marketed, although it worked well, because in the same year it took to develop, another guy I do not know, but also lived in San Francisco has developed an additive synthesis program that ran on Apple Macintosh. And during that same year, the computer of choice for musicians changed Apple Macintosh II.
Sometimes ideas are in the air.
So perhaps it is not surprising that Mr. Emmett Chapman developed an original and efficient method to play the guitar, using both hands to type on different strings, completely independent of the already invented two-handed typing method developed by Jimmie Webster ago about 20 years but has never been into the mainstream.
His spokesman, Greg Howard, the goodwill ambassador for businesses Stick, and the head PR Guy, had this to say recently, "I think his original intention was to develop an instrument This is the best method he discovered on his custom guitar at nine Strings in 1969 (the method which he eventually named "hands free").
Howard reflects his understanding that Chapman has developed an instrument Chapman Stick as a vehicle through which he could continue to pursue an artistic career as a musician in the scene.
It is only that people began asking him to make a Chapman Stick to them that he thought of making Chapman Stick and started a company to do so.
Since then he has worked diligently over the years to popularize the method of play, and even now there are other Manufacturers two-handed tapping instruments specially made to make this powerful touchstyle "technique – as Megatar Mobius and others – and even if there was further expansion of both hands typing method developed since that time, it seems clear that Emmett Chapman was the first to develop an effective method touchstyle with an instrument perfectly matched to the art.
He created a method and an instrument – A two-handed interception system on steroids.

He is the primary author of a free two-handed tapping newsletter which also includes a complete method book that reveals a powerful guitar method that can be quickly learned using two-handed tapping on bass or guitar or specialty instruments like the Stick or Megatar.
