Multimedia Sampletank
Thinking of setting up a Pro Tools Digital Audio home recording studio? So a great way to get this up and running easily and at lower cost with a Digidesign Pro Tools Bundles.
There are four of them all, both have the standard Mbox 2 and two have the Mbox 2 Pro. I 'll list them all hear and give few details of the differences are in each package.
First, all four packages have these five principal components in common:
• Mbox interface
• Pro Tools LE 7 Software
• Studio Monitors
• Microphone
• Ignition Pack (bunch of software)

The first difference:
Bundles 1 and 3 have the Mbox 2 and bundles 2 and 4 of the Mbox 2 Pro. The Mbox 2 uses regular USB port connectivity and the Mbox 2 Pro FireWire. Some people will tell you that the latest USB technology may be even faster than FireWire, while this may be true for some applications but not for recording music. For recording audio FireWire is faster than USB, giving you a slight audible delay called latency. I often use a USB Mbox and redirect monitoring to a mixer which can bypass the problem latency, but it will not even be there with boxes of FireWire.
The second difference:
Then there are the studio monitors. The beams 2 cheap 1 and 3 (same beams that have the Mbox 2 USB) come with a pair of Fostex PMO.4 Powered Studio Monitors. They are slightly lower M-Audio Studio Monitors BX5a assets that come with little more 2 and 4 beams.
The third difference:
The microphone with beams 1 and 3 is the Audio-Technica AT2020 Cardioid condenser microphone. A decent mic and good for digital recording. Bundles 2 and 4 are supplied with an AKG Perception 200 condenser mic with a diaphragm and greater frequency range than the Audio-Technica.
There are some other differences as the ball plugs. Even if all beams are with the 2 most expensive bundle packs of goodies have a little more like the IK Multimedia T-RackS EQ plug-in. It is an equalizer and an excellent mastering tool that sells only about $ 300. Yet, they all include an excellent software such as Reason, Ableton Live, Sampletank, and Amplitube.
So, for someone who wants to get recording on Pro Tools right to break with everything you need and more, then one of these packages digidesigns Tools Pro is for you.
Almost forgot … They all come with a mic stand and cords!
