Is latency a lot with the Mbox 2 Pro When playing RTAS instruments via MIDI?
Hi, I want to set up a studio again after years of not recording anything (I used to have a Digi001 which was pretty good). I read many reviews mixed on Pro Tools LE 8 and M-Powered 8. Latency seems to be a problem with M-Powered as it is not low latency monitoring option as in the M-Box 2 and Packages Digi001. I know that you can control using a blender or a sound card with DSP (ProFire 2626) but here I'll be recording some MIDI too, which means I will be based on plug ins to produce the sound I hear back (latency will be low). Using the Mbox 2 Pro: What is latency, as for playing through RTAS MIDI instruments (from a keyboard or drum machine)? I do not know if I'd be better off getting Cubase 5 and a decent firewire card (Focusrite Pro 40 or similar), I have a Dell XPS M1330 laptop, dual 2.8GHZ Pentium 4, 4GB RAM, 200GB 7200rpm drive.
